Description
Oreo Balls are an easy, no-bake dessert made with crushed Oreo cookies, cream cheese, and a smooth chocolate coating. This simple recipe uses everyday ingredients and is perfect for make-ahead treats, freezer-friendly desserts, or quick sweets for gatherings and holidays.
Ingredients
-
38 Oreo cookies
-
8 oz cream cheese, at room temperature
-
1 cup chocolate melting wafers or candy coating
-
1 cup white chocolate melting wafers or candy coating
-
For decorating: melted chocolate, Oreo crumbs, sprinkles, crushed peppermint, or chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions
-
Place the Oreo cookies in a food processor and pulse until they are fine cookie crumbs with no large pieces remaining.
-
In a stand mixer or a bowl using a hand mixer, beat the cream cheese until smooth, about 1 minute.
-
Add the Oreo cookie crumbs to the cream cheese and mix until fully combined and uniform.
-
Roll the mixture into small balls and place them on a baking sheet or tray lined with parchment paper or wax paper.
-
Freeze the Oreo balls for 15 minutes to help them firm up.
-
Place the chocolate melting wafers in one microwave-safe bowl and the white chocolate melting wafers in a separate microwave-safe bowl. Melt each according to package instructions, stirring until smooth.
-
Remove the Oreo balls from the freezer. Dip each ball into the melted chocolate, coating completely. Use a fork to lift and gently shake off excess chocolate.
-
Dip half of the balls in chocolate and half in white chocolate. Place them back on the lined baking tray.
-
While the coating is still wet, decorate with melted chocolate drizzle, Oreo crumbs, sprinkles, crushed peppermint, or chopped nuts if desired.
-
Refrigerate the Oreo balls for at least 1 hour, or until fully set. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
Notes
-
Make sure the cream cheese is fully softened to ensure a smooth mixture.
-
Freezing the balls before dipping makes them easier to coat and helps them keep their shape.
-
Store Oreo balls in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks in an airtight container.
-
Oreo balls can be frozen for up to 2 months; thaw in the refrigerator before serving.
-
These treats are best served chilled and do not require reheating.
