Description
This Hawaiian Roll Grilled Cheese is a cozy twist on the classic sandwich, made with sweet, buttery rolls and gooey melted Monterey Jack cheese. Cooked on the stovetop until golden and crisp on the outside, the soft rolls hold a perfectly melty center that makes each bite comforting and satisfying. It’s a quick, no-fuss recipe that works just as well for an easy lunch as it does for a simple weeknight dinner.
Ingredients
-
4 Hawaiian rolls
-
1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
-
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
-
Optional: Sliced tomatoes or crispy bacon
Instructions
-
Slice the Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally without cutting all the way through, keeping the rolls attached.
-
Preheat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Butter the inside surfaces of each roll evenly.
-
Place the bottom halves of the rolls butter-side down in the skillet. Fill generously with shredded Monterey Jack cheese and gently press the top halves down.
-
Grill for 3–4 minutes until the bottom is golden brown and the cheese begins to melt.
-
Carefully flip the rolls and grill the other side for another 3–4 minutes until golden brown and the cheese is fully melted.
-
Remove from the skillet, slice if desired, and serve immediately while hot.
Notes
-
Keep the heat at medium to allow the cheese to melt fully without burning the rolls.
-
Grilled cheese is best served right away for the softest centers and crispiest edges.
