Description
This simple hamburger helper is an easy stovetop dinner made with ground beef, tender egg noodles, and a creamy mushroom sauce. Cooked in one skillet, it’s a comforting, budget-friendly meal perfect for busy weeknights.
Ingredients
-
1 lb lean ground beef
-
4 cups water
-
1 tablespoon onion powder
-
1 tablespoon garlic powder
-
1 teaspoon salt
-
1 teaspoon pepper
-
12 oz egg noodles
-
10.5 oz condensed cream of mushroom soup
-
2 tablespoon butter
Instructions
-
Place a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the lean ground beef. Cook, crumbling as it cooks, until fully browned.
-
Drain the grease from the skillet and return the beef to the pan.
-
Add the water, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir well and bring the mixture to a boil.
-
Add the egg noodles and spread them out so they are mostly submerged in the liquid.
-
Reduce heat to medium-low, cover the skillet, and cook for 8 minutes, stirring occasionally.
-
Remove the lid and stir the mixture well.
-
Add the condensed cream of mushroom soup and stir until the noodles are fully coated.
-
Remove the skillet from the heat, add the butter, and stir until the butter is completely melted and incorporated.
Notes
-
Stir occasionally while cooking the noodles to prevent sticking.
-
Let the dish rest briefly after cooking to allow the sauce to thicken.
-
Best served warm directly from the skillet.
