Description

This simple hamburger helper is an easy stovetop dinner made with ground beef, tender egg noodles, and a creamy mushroom sauce. Cooked in one skillet, it’s a comforting, budget-friendly meal perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb lean ground beef

  • 4 cups water

  • 1 tablespoon onion powder

  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1 teaspoon pepper

  • 12 oz egg noodles

  • 10.5 oz condensed cream of mushroom soup

  • 2 tablespoon butter

Instructions

  1. Place a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the lean ground beef. Cook, crumbling as it cooks, until fully browned.

  2. Drain the grease from the skillet and return the beef to the pan.

  3. Add the water, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir well and bring the mixture to a boil.

  4. Add the egg noodles and spread them out so they are mostly submerged in the liquid.

  5. Reduce heat to medium-low, cover the skillet, and cook for 8 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  6. Remove the lid and stir the mixture well.

  7. Add the condensed cream of mushroom soup and stir until the noodles are fully coated.

  8. Remove the skillet from the heat, add the butter, and stir until the butter is completely melted and incorporated.

Notes

  • Stir occasionally while cooking the noodles to prevent sticking.

  • Let the dish rest briefly after cooking to allow the sauce to thicken.

  • Best served warm directly from the skillet.
