Description
This crispy air fryer Parmesan crusted chicken is made with boneless chicken breast and simple everyday ingredients. It cooks quickly in the air fryer, delivering a golden, flavorful crust with juicy chicken inside—perfect for busy weeknights or last-minute meals.
Ingredients
-
2 large boneless skinless chicken breasts
-
¼ cup mayonnaise
-
2 cloves garlic, minced
-
1 cup Italian seasoned panko bread crumbs
-
¼ cup Parmesan cheese, grated
-
½ teaspoon salt
-
¼ teaspoon pepper
-
Olive oil spray
-
Fresh parsley, finely chopped, for garnish
Instructions
-
Preheat the air fryer to 390°F.
-
Cut the chicken breasts in half to make four thin breasts. Place one thin breast between two pieces of plastic wrap and pound into a thin, even piece using a meat tenderizer. Repeat with the remaining chicken.
-
In a small bowl, stir together the mayonnaise and minced garlic. Spread the garlic mayo evenly over both sides of each chicken breast.
-
In a shallow bowl, combine the Italian seasoned panko bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
-
Press each chicken breast into the bread crumb mixture, coating both sides well.
-
Lightly coat the air fryer basket with olive oil spray (do not use PAM, as it may damage some baskets).
-
Place the chicken in the basket in a single layer. Cook for 8 minutes, flip the chicken, then cook for another 5–7 minutes until golden brown and crispy. Cook in batches if needed to avoid overcrowding.
-
Remove the chicken from the air fryer and serve warm, garnished with chopped parsley and extra Parmesan cheese if desired.
Notes
-
Pounding the chicken thin ensures even cooking and prevents dryness.
-
Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket so hot air can circulate properly.
-
Cooking time may vary slightly depending on chicken thickness and air fryer model.
-
This recipe is best served immediately while the coating is crisp.
