Ingredients
-
2 teaspoons brown sugar
-
1 teaspoon paprika
-
1 teaspoon dried oregano
-
½ teaspoon garlic powder
-
¼ teaspoon onion powder
-
¼ teaspoon salt
-
⅛ teaspoon black pepper
-
2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
-
1 teaspoon olive oil
Instructions
-
In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, paprika, dried oregano, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir or whisk until well combined.
-
Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels. Place them in a zip-top bag or between two layers of parchment paper and pound to an even thickness using a meat mallet or rolling pin.
-
Rub the olive oil over all sides of the chicken breasts. Rub the spice mixture evenly over both sides of the chicken.
-
Place the chicken breasts in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
-
Cook at 400°F for 8 minutes. Flip the chicken, then continue cooking for 5–12 more minutes, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F at the thickest part of the breast.
-
Remove the chicken from the air fryer and let rest for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
-
Pounding the chicken to an even thickness helps ensure even cooking and prevents dryness.
-
Cooking time will vary depending on the size and thickness of the chicken breasts.
-
Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket so air can circulate properly.
-
Resting the chicken before slicing helps keep it juicy.
