Description

Peanut Butter Balls are a simple no-bake dessert made with creamy peanut butter, powdered sugar, and a smooth chocolate coating. This freezer-friendly recipe uses everyday ingredients and is perfect for make-ahead treats, quick snacks, or easy desserts to keep on hand.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter

  • 3 Tbsp salted butter, softened

  • 1 cup powdered sugar

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

  • 1 Tbsp vegetable shortening or coconut oil (optional)

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the peanut butter and softened butter. Stir until smooth and fully blended.

  • Gradually add the powdered sugar, mixing until the mixture is fully combined and forms a thick dough.

  • Cover the bowl and refrigerate for about 15 minutes to firm up the dough.

  • Remove the dough from the refrigerator and shape it into 1-inch balls using your hands.

  • Place the balls on a baking sheet, cover, and refrigerate for at least 20 minutes so they hold their shape for dipping.

  • Melt the chocolate chips according to package instructions. If using vegetable shortening or coconut oil, melt it with the chocolate to create a smoother coating.

  • Using a fork, dip each peanut butter ball into the melted chocolate, allowing excess chocolate to drip off.

  • Place the coated balls onto wax paper. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.

Notes

  • Make sure the butter is softened to blend smoothly with the peanut butter.

  • Chilling the dough before shaping and dipping helps the balls keep their shape.

  • Store peanut butter balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for several days.

  • For long-term storage, freeze in a sealed container and thaw in the refrigerator before serving.

  • These treats are best served chilled and do not require reheating.
