Ingredients
-
6 cups halved fresh strawberries
-
3 tablespoons all-purpose white flour
-
1 tablespoon white sugar
-
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
-
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
-
1 ¼ cups white sugar
-
1 cup butter
-
1 cup rolled oats
-
Salt to taste
Instructions
-
Gather all ingredients and preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
-
In a large bowl, combine the strawberries, 3 tablespoons flour, 1 tablespoon sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix thoroughly until the strawberries are evenly coated.
-
Pour the strawberry mixture into a 9×13-inch baking dish, spreading it into an even layer.
-
In a separate bowl, combine 1 ½ cups flour, 1 ¼ cups sugar, butter, rolled oats, and salt to taste. Mix by hand or with a pastry cutter until the mixture is crumbly and well combined.
-
Spread the crumb topping evenly over the strawberries without pressing it down.
-
Bake in the preheated oven for about 45 minutes, until the filling is bubbly and the topping is light brown and golden.
-
Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
-
Do not press the topping into the fruit to maintain a crisp texture.
-
Allowing the crisp to rest briefly helps the filling set before serving.
