Description
Meatball Casserole is a simple, comforting oven-baked dish made with frozen meatballs, uncooked pasta, and pasta sauce all cooked together in one casserole. Finished with melted mozzarella and Parmesan cheese, this easy recipe is perfect for busy weeknights, make-ahead meals, or relaxed family dinners.
Ingredients
-
1 pound frozen meatballs
-
1 can (24 ounces) pasta sauce
-
1 cup water
-
2 cups uncooked pasta (such as penne or rigatoni)
-
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
-
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
-
Optional: fresh basil or parsley for garnish
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 375°F.
-
In a casserole dish, combine the frozen meatballs, pasta sauce, water, and uncooked pasta. Stir gently so the pasta is mostly submerged.
-
Cover the dish tightly with foil and bake for about 40 minutes, until the pasta begins to soften.
-
Remove the foil and stir the casserole lightly to prevent sticking.
-
Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese evenly over the top, followed by the grated Parmesan cheese.
-
Bake uncovered for an additional 10–15 minutes, until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and lightly golden.
-
Remove from the oven, garnish with fresh basil or parsley if desired, and serve hot.
Notes
-
Keep the dish tightly covered during the first bake so the pasta cooks evenly.
-
Stir once midway through baking to distribute moisture.
-
-
Let the casserole rest briefly before serving for easier portioning.
