Description
Green Velvet Brownies with Cream Cheese Frosting are rich, fudgy brownies tinted green for a festive look and topped with a smooth cream cheese frosting. They’re a simple, one-pan dessert that works well for St Patrick’s Day food, parties, or make-ahead treats.
Ingredients
Brownies
-
¾ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
-
¾ cup butter
-
2 cups sugar
-
4 large eggs
-
1½ cups all-purpose flour
-
1 (1-oz) bottle green liquid food coloring
-
1½ teaspoons baking powder
-
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
-
⅛ teaspoon salt
Cream Cheese Frosting
-
1 (8-oz) package cream cheese, softened
-
3 tablespoons butter, softened
-
1½ cups powdered sugar
-
⅛ teaspoon salt
-
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9-inch square pan with aluminum foil, leaving extra overhang on the sides, and lightly grease the foil.
-
In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips and butter in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
-
Whisk in the sugar until well combined.
-
Add the eggs one at a time, whisking just until blended after each addition.
-
Gently stir in the flour, green food coloring, baking powder, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth.
-
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
-
Bake for 44–48 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
-
Cool completely in the pan on a wire rack, about 2 hours.
-
For the frosting, beat the cream cheese and butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar and salt, then mix in vanilla extract.
-
Lift the cooled brownies from the pan using the foil, remove foil, spread frosting evenly, and cut into 16 squares.
