Instructions

  • 1 pound ground beef

  • 2 cups elbow macaroni

  • 1 (14.5 oz) can diced tomatoes

  • 1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce

  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped

  • 2–3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 cups beef broth

  • 1 to 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

  • 1 teaspoon paprika

  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Notes

  • Stir occasionally once the pasta is added to prevent sticking.

  • Keep the heat at a gentle simmer so the sauce doesn’t scorch.

  • Let the goulash rest for a few minutes before serving to thicken slightly.

  • Leftovers will absorb sauce as they cool; add a splash of broth when reheating for best texture.
