Ingredients
-
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
-
1 cup granulated sugar
-
1 cup brown sugar, packed
-
2 large eggs
-
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
-
3 cups all-purpose flour
-
1 teaspoon baking powder
-
1 teaspoon baking soda
-
1/2 teaspoon salt
-
2 cups chocolate chips
-
1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
-
1/2 cup festive sprinkles (for decoration)
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment paper for easy removal.
-
In a large bowl, beat softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
-
Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
-
In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
-
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring just until combined.
-
Fold in the chocolate chips and optional chopped nuts. Spread the dough evenly in the prepared baking dish.
-
Sprinkle festive sprinkles and additional chocolate chips on top for decoration.
-
Bake 22–27 minutes or until edges are lightly golden and the center is set.
-
Allow to cool in the pan before lifting out using parchment paper and slicing into bars.
Notes
-
For nut-free bars, replace nuts with extra chocolate or candies.
-
Slightly underbake for a softer and chewier texture.
-
Gluten-free flour blends work well if needed.
